Raising a family is hard, and same sex parents and their children face unique concerns.

You might be trying to create a new family after a marriage, an adoption, or a surrogacy.

You Have Good Reason For Seeking Out Therapy And Counseling From A Member Of The Local LGBTQ Community.

It is a well established but unfortunate fact. Graduate training programs for mental health professionals lack adequate training in LGBTQ issues.

I am a specialist on lesbian, gay, and bisexual mental health issues. As a gay person myself, I understand personally the unique concerns, strains, and pressures our community faces.

A gay therapist is someone who:

  • Knows the challenges and joys of gay relationships and friendships

  • Gets what it’s like to face coming out to family and the possibility of family rejection

  • Understands the ins and outs of being gay in Georgia and the south.

  • Knows what happens during gay sex and doesn’t have conflicted feelings about it.

  • Understands the subtle and overt forms of discrimination and bias that still impact our lives--even today

  • Is familiar with HIV and how it impacts the lives of both those with the virus and those without it
